Budget concerns fall on shoulders of City Council

A year ago, officials had made the promise to taxpayers, the fallout from the city’s failed telecommunications venture would not fall on their shoulders. A year later, it now appears the fallout from Greenlight Communications and Judge Steven Rogers’ decision regarding the inequitable 25 percent surcharge is going to delve into the taxpayers’ pockets. The sting is likely going to worsen in the months ahead, especially if the City Council approves a fire assessment fee for residential and commercial property.
