Chamber plans awards banquet, seeks nominations

The Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce is reviving its annual Chamber awards banquet. Those who wish can vote for their favorite Dunnellon businesses and organizations, business people and community members in the Dunnellon Chamber & Business Association's annual awards. You may vote once per day in each of the categories (listed below) during the voting period, which ends on Wednesday, Jan. 17. To vote, visit s.surveyplanet.com/ryGGqU-EG

The DCBA would like to encourage all businesses and organizations to share the link to voting with all of their customers and friends. The top three in each category will be notified and invited to attend the annual awards dinner Jan. at the American Legion. The cost for dinner is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers, and includes hors d'oeuvres, dinner, dessert, and nonalcoholic drinks.

* Most Involved Business or organization most involved in the community (involved in events, meetings, etc).

* Business Beautification Award: A business that has changed, updated, improved its exterior.

* Service Above Self Award: An individual who gives back to their community, without hesitation, for the betterment of the community.

* Outstanding Restaurant: A restaurant that provides a great atmosphere with delicious food.

* Outstanding Recreational Business: A recreational sales and/or rentals business that promotes our resources and tourism.

* Outstanding Niche Business: A business that offers antiques, art or unique gift items.

* Outstanding Medical Service Business: Doctors, dentists, etc.

* Outstanding Personal Services Business: Hair and nail salons, barbers, spas, massage therapy, etc.

* Outstanding Vehicle Sales and Service: Mechanics, new and used car sales, detailing, etc.

* Outstanding Professional & Business Services: Attorneys, banks, CPAs, financial services, notaries, realtor, etc.

* Outstanding Exterior/Interior Home, Garden Supplies and Services: A business that offers home repair, home improvement, improvement supplies etc.

* Customer Excellence Award: A business with a friendly staff and atmosphere with customer service of the highest caliber.

* Nonprofit or Government Organization: A nonprofit that gives back to their community and makes Dunnellon a better place.

* Volunteer of the Year: A volunteer who goes above and beyond for Dunnellon and the community.

* Best Event: Best event hosted in Dunnellon in 2017 such as Boomtown Days, Historic Village Festival, Cracker Days, Rainbow Springs Art Festival, Santa over the Rainbow, Jazz Up Dunnellon Music Festival, Dunnellon Christmas Parade, Ugly Sweater 5K, etc.

* Rising Star Award: Open to business owners, professionals and talented managers, this award recognizes a young business person under 40 that demonstrates enterprise, innovation, and entrepreneurial flair.

* Start Up Business Award: Recognizes a business, operating locally for less than two years, that has translated an idea into a successful business venture in or around Dunnellon.

* Commitment to Excellence: A person who makes certain decisions that helps shape them into an elite businessman and –woman.
