Officials: City has $13K in bad debt

By Jeff Bryan

In an effort to patch a water-billing issue, the Dunnellon City Council is considering tightening its billing cycle.
Currently, customers can pay their bills as many as 45 days late before the city takes action by shutting off its customers’ water supply.
If the Council approves an ordinance in the coming month to terminate services if a bill is not paid by the 20th of each month, customers will find themselves without water services. The Council approved the first reading Monday night. A public hearing is tentatively scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28.
